IPTION:\nThe shortage of well-trained medical dosimetrists has made it
difficult for clinical staff to train additional personnel. MTMI has
extensive experience in conducting intensive short training courses. T
his course is designed to provide efficient training in medical dosime
try with a rapid introduction to basic principles and an emphasis on t
heir practical application in the clinic.\n\nThis program is a compreh
ensive 2-week training course with the curriculum modeled after the AA
MD Medical Dosimetry Education Programs Guidelines. The 2 weeks consis
t of 10 days of lecture and 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) of hands-on t
reatment planning training in small groups on treatment planning syste
ms from various manufacturers in clinical sites around the Milwaukee a
rea. Following the 2-week course it is recommended the trainee return
to their facility to begin working in dosimetry under the supervision
of a medical physicist or qualified dosimetrist. After 6 to 12 months
of on-the-job experience the trainee could return for an Advanced Dosi
metry Training Course. This advanced course will review basic dosimetr
y techniques and provide a more thorough training in complex radiation
oncology treatment techniques.\n\nPrerequisites for admission to the
program includes certification as a RT(T) by the ARRT and at least 1 y
ear of clinical experience as a radiation therapist or a BS degree in
physics with some previous training on the basic concepts and procedur
es of radiation oncology and radiation safety.\n\nThe course is not sp
ecifically designed to serve as a review course for the MDCB registry
examination. However, it would be an excellent review for an experienc
ed dosimetrist needing formal training on the principles of dosimetry
in preparation for the board examination.\nThis course provides 78.0 h
ours of Category A credit for Radiologic Technologists recognized by t
he ARRT and various licensure states.\nThis course also provides 63.5
hours of continuing medical education credit for Certified Medical Dos
imetrists recognized by the MDCB.\n\n\nINSTRUCTORS:\nBowen, Culberson,
  Holley, Kreul-Buskerud, Slattery, Thomason, Howell\n\nCME HOURS: 78 h
 ours Category A credit\n\nLECTURE TOPICS:\nBody Imaging\n\nACTIVITIES:
