SUMMARY:Mastering the Art of Digital Radiography
DESCRIPTION:Mastering the Art of Digital Radiography\nTechniques and P
ositioning in Your Digital World\n\n8 Hours ARRT Category A Credit\nDe
nnis Bowman, RT(R)\n\nAbout this Seminar\n\nMost digital radiography s
eminars discuss how the equipment works and the physics behind it. Thi
s seminar is designed to give technologists practical knowledge to hel
p them use their CR and DR equipment. With over 250 images and 9 video
s, the presentation will feel like a \"hands-on\" workshop.\nThis semi
nar will confront the universal problems and concerns with digital rad
iography. You will learn why you should be using 15-20 kVp higher and
one third the mAs required for film/screen. Little training exists to
provide an understanding of the use of a histogram, magnification mode
s and the Dose Exposure Index (DEI) number. All will be discussed thro
ughout the seminar.\nUsing film/screen, radiographers once worried abo
ut a film being too dark or light, now they need to be concerned about
acceptable quantum mottle and over radiating patients. This will lead
to a better understanding of how to utilized this new technology to i
mprove the art of radiography and science.\n\nEducational Objectives\n
\nAt the completion of this seminar,\nattendees will be able to:\n\nâ€
˘ Select appropriate technical factors to optimize image acquisition,
consistent with ALARA.\n• Describe at least three different ways to
critique a digital image.\n• Discuss the concept of acceptable mottl
e.\n• Identify what is needed to change the technique chart for digi
tal systems.\n• Describe why a Ferlic Filter is beneficial on a cros
s table lateral hip view.\n• Explain how to set up a tube at the pro
per angle for a portable chest.\n• Explain the newest information co
ncerning lead shielding.\n• Explain the legal implications of not ma
rking images, post processing collimation and changing algorithms.\n\n
About the Instructor\n\nDennis Bowman, RT(R)\nDennis has been an activ
e radiologic technologist for over 30 years. He has been employed as a
Staff Technologist at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsul
a in Monterey, California since 1990. He has also been the Clinical In
structor for the Cabrillo College Radiology Program since 1991. With a
digital dosimeter and a vast array of body phantoms, Dennis has put i
n hundreds of hours researching, studying and putting into practice, d
igital techniques. In addition to the weekly classes he gives his stud
ents, Dennis has traveled nationwide lecturing on how best to use and
critique digital radiography. As a \"shooting tech\", Dennis fully und
erstands all the problems techs encounter and is able to help them sol
ve those problems with humor. He is experienced, knowledgeable and bri
ngs an enthusiastic teaching style you will enjoy.\n\nWho Should Atten
 d\n\nRadiologic Technologists\nMedical Imaging Specialists\nEducators\
 nVendor Personnel\n\nSeminar Credit\n\nThis program provides 8 hours o
f Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists
recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states. A certificate of
attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of the
seminar. All attendees must attend the entire seminar to receive full
  credit.\n\nFor more information visit https://community.radrounds.com
