AHEC offers clinical fellowships to registered radiograp hers (RT, R) In the modalities of Mammography, Computed Tomography, Ma gnetic Resonance Imaging and Cardiovascular Radiography. Fellowships a re conducted In the Houston, TX area in hospitals, imaging facilities and urgent care facilities. The length of clinical fellowship training will vary by the modality selected. **No CE credit is awarded for cli nical hours. In order to receive a certificate documenting clinical at tendance, technologists must return their timesheet and copies of thei r clinical competency forms to the AHEC office via mail or fax to the attention of the respective fellowship coordinator. Modality Informati on Mammography Clinical Fellowship: (Option 2-2 day clinical fellowshi p-16 hours) In April 1999, the final rules of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) became effective that required entry-level traini ng for mammography including the performance of 25 patient procedures under the super-vision of a qualified mammographer. Radiologic Technol ogists from small facilities or who enter the training on their own wi ll require a clinical site to acquire the required 25 patient procedur es as per MQSA standards for the FDA. Advanced Health can provide a li mited number of clinical training sites with qualified clinical facult y and student liability insurance for patient care activities. Student s desiring this option should be registered and paid three weeks in ad vance of the class. It will require technologists to spend 6 days for the fellowship and seven days class if enrolled in the digital mammogr aphy course on the Monday following the theory portion of the fellowsh ip course. Mammography Fellowship Coordinator: Susan Sprinkle-Vincent, AAS, RT,(R)(M)-Director/Consultant for Mammography Services. Clinical Fellowship Requirements Clinical Fellowship requires enrolled technol ogists to meet hospital and imaging center requirements as required by affiliation agreements and education departments. The following infor mation must be submitted to obtain a clinical site rotation assignment . Fellowship coordinators will contact enrolled technologists in advan ce of clinical rotations to secure appropriate documentation. Reliable email and/or telephone contact Information must be provided at time o f registration for the class. Failure to provide correct information w ill result in delay or failure of clinical placement. Required informa tion must be provided a minimum of three weeks prior to the first day of the theory class.
