AHEC offers clinical fellowships to registered radiographers (RT, R ) In the modalities of Mammography, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Reso nance Imaging and Cardiovascular Radiography. Fellowships are conducte d In the Houston, TX area in hospitals, imaging facilities and urgent care facilities. The length of clinical fellowship training will vary by the modality selected. **No CE credit is awarded for clinical hours . In order to receive a certificate documenting clinical attendance, t echnologists must return their timesheet and copies of their clinical competency forms to the AHEC office via mail or fax to the attention o f the respective fellowship coordinator. Modality Information Mammogra phy Clinical Fellowship: (Option 2-2 day clinical fellowship-16 hours) In April 1999, the final rules of the Mammography Quality Standards A ct (MQSA) became effective that required entry-level training for mamm ography including the performance of 25 patient procedures under the s uper-vision of a qualified mammographer. Radiologic Technologists from small facilities or who enter the training on their own will require a clinical site to acquire the required 25 patient procedures as per M QSA standards for the FDA. Advanced Health can provide a limited numbe r of clinical training sites with qualified clinical faculty and stude nt liability insurance for patient care activities. Students desiring this option should be registered and paid three weeks in advance of th e class. It will require technologists to spend 6 days for the fellows hip and seven days class if enrolled in the digital mammography course on the Monday following the theory portion of the fellowship course. Clinical Fellowship Requirements Clinical Fellowship requires enrolled technologists to m eet hospital and imaging center requirements as required by affiliatio n agreements and education departments. The following information must be submitted to obtain a clinical site rotation assignment. Fellowshi p coordinators will contact enrolled technologists in advance of clini cal rotations to secure appropriate documentation. Failure to provide correct information will result in delay or failure of clinical placement.
