 otel, London\n\n\nDear friends and colleagues,\n\n\n\nLondon is one of
  the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, holding an enviable record
  within the development of medicine over the centuries. For these reas
 ons (and many others), it is the perfect venue for our International P
 aediatric Radiology Congress which is held every tenth year in Europe.
 \n\n\n\nThis year’s programme includes a selection of world renowned
  speakers, debates, competitions, a selection of six different sunrise
  sessions each morning, 200 posters, a series of state of the art mini
 -symposia, not to mention a social programme which makes the most of L
 ondon’s legendary and unique artistic, historic and architectural he
 ritage.\n\n\n\nYou will be spoilt for choice, kept on your toes, and h
 ave your intellectual capabilities stretched to the fullest, in what p
 romises to be one action packed week!\n\n\n\nIf you have been to an IP
 R meeting before, you may be expecting a two day course followed by a 
 three day conference. We are doing things differently this year and th
 e days are being split into course sessions in the morning and scienti
 fic sessions in the afternoon.\n\n\n\nWe are delighted to welcome Prof
 essor Sam Gambhir from Stanford USA a world leader in Molecular Imagin
 g, who will presenting the Jacques Lefebvre/ Neuhauser Lecture on Mole
 cular Imaging, which will be one of the highlights of the strong scien
 tific programme. We are fortunate to have many world leaders within me
 dicine at hand, who are resident in London, and whom we have called on
  to make this an important clinico-radiological experience.\n\n\n\nWe 
 will be holding debates, the IPR 2011 ‘Olympics’, very topical, as
  London will host the 2012 Olympic Games.\n\n\n\nThe whole event kicks
  off in the afternoon of Friday 27th May with two important Radiology 
 summits – one ultrasound, the other on radiation safety.\n\n\n\nWe a
 re using 2 venues for the conference. The main venue is the Hilton Lon
 don Metropole Hotel where most of the congress sessions and exhibition
  take place, whilst a number of the sunrise sessions will take place i
 n the St Mary’s Hospital medical school. This is an historic venue (
 less than 5 minutes walk away) where Professor Sir Alexander Fleming d
 iscovered Penicillin, and where Sir Roger Bannister worked (the first 
 man to complete a 4 minute mile- his original stopwatch still housed i
 n the lecture theatre in which you will be seated).\n\n\n\nThe excelle
 nt social programme offers you a welcome reception at the Hilton Hotel
 , a wonderful baroque concert featuring the London Handel Players and 
 the beautiful soprano Diva, Ms Ruby Hughes. We are very fortunate to h
 old the concert in the superb world famous architecturally important C
 adogan Hall (an important listed building the perfect acoustics host t
 he BBC Proms lunchtime concerts) and the final Gala dinner at the Conn
 aught Rooms / Freemasons Hall- one of London’s most famous buildings
 , originally built in 1775 in Covent Garden (also the headquarters of 
 the television series Spooks!)\n\n\n\nThere are comprehensive tours wi
 thin London during the conference, and several choices of post congres
 s tours to Scotland, the Lake District, Oxford and Cambridge.\n\n\n\nW
 e really look forward to seeing you in London in May. We will have a m
