SUMMARY:Introduction to Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imaging
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imag
 ing -- October 2011\n\nStart Date: 10/27/2011\nEnd Date: 10/28/2011\nA
 dvanced Registration: $1,295.00\nRegular Registration: $1,335.00\nLoca
tion: Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute\nAddress: 4615 Gulf Blvd., Suite
205\nSt. Pete Beach, FL 33706\n\n16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM\n
 hour(s) of ACEP Category I credit(s)\n15 Category A ASRT credit(s)\n\n
*The Advanced Registration fee is honored if payment is made/postmarke
d 21 days or more prior to the beginning date of the program\n\nA $100
.00 late fee will apply if registering less than or equal to 7 Days be
fore the course. Call to register if less than or equal to 7 days from
course date.\n\nObjectives & Topics\nAt the completion of this progra
m, the participant should be able to:\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiol
ogy of the upper and lower extremity venous and arterial systems.\n2.
Discuss Doppler/color physics & be able to (sonographers) apply these
principles to optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this da
ta for recognizing technical errors, which may result in misdiagnosis.
\n3. Perform routine scan protocols & document Doppler waveforms for a
rterial & venous evaluations of the lower extremity.\n4. Perform routi
ne scan protocol for upper extrem. venous evaluation.\n5. Identify nor
mal/abnormal spectral Doppler/color characteristics and waveform chara
cteristics for diagnosing arterial and venous disease.\n6. Explain met
hods for obtaining quantitative data and the diagnostic relevance of e
ach measurement.\n7. Recognize imaging characteristics of acute versus
chronic DVT.\n8. State the indications and applications of indirect t
esting methods for lower arterial disease.\n9. Increase knowledge and
confidence to perform and/or interpret upper and lower PV ultrasound e
xams.\n10. Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, unde
r supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has bee
 n achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n• Doppler fundamentals\n• Venous an
atomy/scan techniques, normal characteristics and pathology\n• Upper
extremity venous evaluation\n• Saphenous vein mapping\n• Live dem
o: Venous insufficiency and upper extremities\n• Lower extremity eva
luation for DVT\n• Lower extremity arterial anatomy/physiology\n•
 Clinical exam/indirect testing\n• Direct testing/duplex scanning\nâ€
¢ Live demos: duplex arterial, segmental pressures\n• Treatment of l
 ower PAD\n• Hands-on sessions\n\nFaculty\nRob Daigle, BA, RVT, FSVU\

ripheral vascular duplex/color exams. Also, physicians who are at an e
ntry level of interpretation. Physician may include (but are not limit
ed to) those involved with internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, a
 nd general/vascular surgery.\n\nCME Credit Statements\nThe Gulfcoast U
ltrasound Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Con
tinuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute designates this educ
ational activity for a maximum of 16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit(s
