SUMMARY:Introduction to Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imaging
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imag
 ing -- June 2011\n\nStart Date: 6/9/2011\nEnd Date: 6/10/2011\n16.0 AM
 A PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM\n15 Category A ASRT credit(s)\nAdvanced R
 egistration: $1,295.00\nRegular Registration: $1,335.00\nLocation: Gul
fcoast Ultrasound Institute\nAddress: 4615 Gulf Blvd., Suite 205\nSt.
Pete Beach, FL 33706\n\n*The Advanced Registration fee is honored if p
ayment is made/postmarked 21 days or more prior to the beginning date
of the program\n\nA $100.00 late fee will apply if registering less th
an or equal to 7 Days before the course. Call to register if less than
  or equal to 7 days from course date.\n\nObjectives & Topics\nAt the c
ompletion of this program, the participant should be able to:\n\n1. Id
entify the anatomy/physiology of the upper and lower extremity venous
and arterial systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/color physics & be able to (
sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (p
hysicians) utilize this data for recognizing technical errors, which m
ay result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Perform routine scan protocols & docume
nt Doppler waveforms for arterial & venous evaluations of the lower ex
tremity.\n4. Perform routine scan protocol for upper extrem. venous ev
 aluation.\n5. Identify normal/abnormal spectral Doppler/color characte
ristics and waveform characteristics for diagnosing arterial and venou
s disease.\n6. Explain methods for obtaining quantitative data and the
diagnostic relevance of each measurement.\n7. Recognize imaging chara
cteristics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n8. State the indications and
applications of indirect testing methods for lower arterial disease.\n
 9. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret upper
and lower PV ultrasound exams.\n10. Apply the information discussed i
n a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an accepted le
vel of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n\n• Doppler
fundamentals\n• Venous anatomy/scan techniques, normal characterist
ics and pathology\n• Upper extremity venous evaluation\n• Saphenou
s vein mapping\n• Live demo: Venous insufficiency and upper extremit
ies\n• Lower extremity evaluation for DVT\n• Lower extremity arter
 ial anatomy/physiology\n• Clinical exam/indirect testing\n• Direct
testing/duplex scanning\n• Live demos: duplex arterial, segmental p
 ressures\n• Treatment of lower PAD\n• Hands-on sessions\n\nTarget
Audience\n\nSonographers, physicians, PAs & other medical professional
s learning to perform peripheral vascular duplex/color exams. Also, ph
ysicians who are at an entry level of interpretation. Physician may in
clude (but are not limited to) those involved with internal medicine,
cardiology, radiology, and general/vascular surgery.\n\nCME Credit Sta
tements\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute is accredited by the Acc
reditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continu
ing medical education for physicians.\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Inst
itute designates this educational activity for a maximum of 16.0 AMA P
RA Category 1 CME Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit co
mmensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.\n\n
Approved by the ASRT for 15 Category A continuing education credit. No
te: ASRT credits are accepted by the ARRT as Category A credits.\n\nTh
is course also meets CME/CEU requirements for ARDMS. Note: While offer
ing the CME credit hours noted above, activities are not intended to p
rovide extensive training or certification for exam performance or int
 erpretation.\n\nFor more information visit https://community.radrounds
