SUMMARY:Introduction to Musculoskeletal Ultrasound - Includes Human Ca
daver Workshop for Injection and Aspiration Techniques!
DESCRIPTION:\nCourse Benefits/Unique Highlights:\n\nOpt to attend our
workshop with unembalmed human cadaver specimens to practice U/S-guide
d injection and aspiration techniques.\nEvaluate upper and lower extre
mity joints\nEvaluate the hip and spine\nBreak-out groups for scanning
protocols and case study reviews\nScan live models with 3:1 participa
nt-to-instructor ratio\n\nUnembalmed Human Cadaver Workshop Descriptio
nWorking in collaboration with the AEC Learning Center, Gulfcoast Ultr
asound designed this workshop to complement participation in the Intro
duction to MSK Ultrasound program. Participants will have an opportuni
ty to perform ultrasound-guided injection and aspiration techniques on
unembalmed human cadaver specimens. The optional session will develop
skills, enhance confidence, and minimize barriers to integrate these
techniques into clinical practice. Registration is limited to individu
als who are registered for this course.\nAt the completion of this pro
gram, the participant should be able to:\n\nExplain ultrasound physics
principles and imaging fundamentals for musculoskeletal imaging.\nDes
cribe techniques and protocols for performing shoulder, elbow, wrist/h
and, knee, ankle and foot ultrasound examinations.\nIdentify normal an
atomy during musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.\nExplain the capabili
ties and limitations of musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.\nIdentify
sonographic appearance of commonly seen pathology of the shoulder, kne
e, elbow wrist hand, ankle and foot.\nState the indications and benefi
ts of MSK ultrasound for sports medicine injuries, physical medicine &
rehabilitation, and rheumatology applications.\nExplain the use of MS
 K sonography for diagnosis and ultrasound-guided interventions.\nDiscu
ss the indications/findings for MSK hip and spine sonography.\nDescrib
e “in-plane” and “out of plane” injection and aspiration techn
iques.\nIncrease the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/o
r interpret MSK U/S examinations.\nApply the information discussed in
a clinical setting, ideally under supervised conditions until an accep
table level of proficiency has been achieved.\nOptional: Perform ultra
sound-guided injection techniques on human cadaver specimens.\n\nCours
 e Topics:\n\nImaging fundamentals\nShoulder and elbow anatomy/Scan tec
 hniques/Pathology\nHand and wrist anatomy/Scan techniques/Live demonst
 ration\nAspiration/Injection techniques\nKnee anatomy/scan techniques/
 Knee pathology\nFoot and ankle anatomy/scan techniques/Live demonstrat
 ion\nMSK in Rheumatology: Indication/applications; diagnosis & interve
 ntion\nLive demonstration;  Q/A all areas;\nInteractive Case Presenta
 tions\nReimbursement, Credentialing & Lab Accreditation\nHands-on sess
