DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Critical Care Ultrasound is designed to pr
 ovide a strong foundation to perform the core emergency ultrasound app
 lications as outlined in the WINFOCUS and ACEP practice guidelines. Th
 is ultrasound training course incorporates comprehensive lectures, int
 eractive case presentations, and extensive hands-on scanning, featurin
 g a 3:1 ratio with live models and inanimate phantoms. A pre-course we
 binar is included on Imaging Fundamentals.\nObjectives\n\nIncrease th
 e participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Critica
 l Care ultrasound examinations.\nState the basic fundamentals of ultra
 sound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization for system cont
 rols.\nPerform ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST exa
 m).\nDemonstrate image orientation, transducer placement, and scan pro
 tocols for performing ultrasound evaluation of pneumothorax.\nDemonstr
 ate scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen, aorta, and a
 dult heart, and lower extremity DVT.\nDemonstrate image orientation, t
 ransducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound gu
 ided vascular access.\nDifferentiate normal/abnormal image characteris
 tics of the abdomen and adult heart.\nState an algorithm for assessin
 g causes of shock and hypotension using bedside ultrasound.\nDemonstra
 te protocols for performing thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, paracen
 tesis, and lumbar puncture.\nIncrease competence to incorporate protoc
 ols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical practi
