DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Critical Care Ultrasound is designed to pr
 ovide a strong foundation to perform the core emergency ultrasound app
 lications as outlined in the WINFOCUS and ACEP practice guidelines. Th
 is ultrasound training course incorporates comprehensive lectures, int
 eractive case presentations, and extensive hands-on scanning, featurin
 g a 3:1 ratio with live models and inanimate phantoms. A pre-course we
 binar is included on Imagaing Fundamentals.\n\nObjectives\n\nIncrease 
 the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Criti
 cal Care ultrasound examinations.\nState the basic fundamentals of ult
 rasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization for system co
 ntrols.\nPerform ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST e
 xam).\nDemonstrate image orientation, transducer placement, and scan p
 rotocols for performing ultrasound evaluation of pneumothorax.\nDemons
 trate scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen, aorta, and
  adult heart, and lower extremity DVT.\nDemonstrate image orientation,
  transducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound 
 guided vascular access.\nDifferentiate normal/abnormal image character
 istics of the abdomen and adult heart.\nState an algorithm for assess
 ing causes of shock and hypotension using bedside ultrasound.\nDemonst
 rate protocols for performing thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, parac
 entesis, and lumbar puncture.\nIncrease competence to incorporate prot
 ocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical prac
