SUMMARY:Introduction to Carotid Duplex/Color Flow Imaging
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Carotid Duplex/Color Flow Imaging Training
Course is taught by leading vascular ultrasound experts, with a 3:1 f
aculty to participant hands-on scan ratio and is specifically designed
for physicians, sonographers and other medical professionals who need
carotid ultrasound training. GCUS offers three day carotid ultrasound
courses at our facility in St. Petersburg, FL that includes 70+ inter
active case presentations. The course is held at multiple dates throug
hout the year, making it the perfect course for both local participant
s and participants traveling to Florida. GCUS offers carotid ultrasoun
d training as a stand alone three-day course, or as part of a week lon
g vascular ultrasound training and CME program. In the week long vascu
lar program, participants will learn ultrasound techniques for the ent
 ire vascular system.\nTopics\n\nDoppler & Color Fundamentals\nCarotid
 Anatomy & Physiology\nNormal Spectral Analysis\nCarotid Scan Protocol\
 nDisease Progression & Stenosis Assessment\nCarotid Imaging Pitfalls\n
Interactive Case Studies\nEvaluation & Measurement of Intima-Media Thi

r interpret Carotid Duplex/Color Flow Imaging ultrasound examinations.
\nApply knowledge of the anatomy/physiology of the cerebrovascular sys
tem into the Carotid Duplex examination.\nCite Doppler/color physics p
rinciples and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to opti
mize system controls and/or (physicians) utilize this information for
identifying technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.\nPerfor
m routine scan protocols and Doppler calculations in a complete caroti
 d duplex/color examination.\nDifferentiate normal/abnormal spectral Do
ppler/color characteristics.\nList methods for obtaining quantitative
information and state the diagnostic relevance of each measurement.\nC
haracterize plaque morphology and other pathology associated with cere
bral vascular disease.\nPerform Intima-Media Thickness measurements an
d state the clinical significance as a screening method for cardiovasc
ular disease.\nIntegrate the information to include and prepare a stru
ctured report for a carotid ultrasound examination.\nApply diagnostic
criteria for accurate interpretation of carotid duplex/color flow exam
