SUMMARY:Introduction to Adult Echocardiography
DESCRIPTION:Our Introduction to Adult Echocardiography course is desig
ned to provide a strong foundation to perform and/or interpret adult c
ardiac ultrasound examinations. The program is taught by leading echoc
ardiography experts, and includes comprehensive lectures, interactive
case studies using an audience response system, and extensive hands on
scanning featuring a 3:1 hands-on ratio using live models for the mos
t hands on scan time.\n\nObjectives\n\nIncrease the participant’s kn
owledge to better perform and/or interpret Echocardiography examinatio
ns\nDemonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization
to produce diagnostic images (sonographer) and recognize potential im
aging errors (Physician)\nDemonstrate routine scan protocols to evalua
te an adult patient using 2D/M-Mode/Color Flow & Doppler echocardiogra
phic techniques and demonstrate appropriate measurements\nIdentify nor
mal/abnormal characteristics of 2D cardiac anatomy and state the role
of cardiac Doppler and list the necessary qualitative/quantitative mea
surements\nIdentify the ultrasound findings associated with valvular h
eart disease, cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, pericardial di
sease and cardiac masses\nList the latest imaging techniques in quanti
fication of right and left ventricle wall motion\nDocument findings an
d apply standardized guidelines during compilation of an Echocardiogra
phy worksheet (sonographer) and dictated report (Physician)\nList the
steps necessary for system optimization during contrast echo imaging\n
Increase confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques & interpretat
 ion criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy\n\n \n\nTopics\
 n\nImaging Fundamentals\nAnatomy of the Heart and EKG\n2D Evaluation o
