SUMMARY:Introduction to Adult Echocardiography
DESCRIPTION:Our Introduction to Adult Echocardiography course is desig
ned to provide a strong foundation to perform and/or interpret adult c
ardiac ultrasound examinations. The program is taught by leading echoc
ardiography experts, and includes comprehensive lectures, interactive
case studies using an audience response system, and extensive hands on
scanning featuring a 3:1 hands-on ratio using live models for the mos
t hands on scan time.\nObjectives\n\nIncrease the participant’s know
ledge to better perform and/or interpret Echocardiography examinations
\nDemonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization t
o produce diagnostic images (sonographer) and recognize potential imag
ing errors (Physician)\nDemonstrate routine scan protocols to evaluate
an adult patient using 2D/M-Mode/Color Flow & Doppler echocardiograph
ic techniques and demonstrate appropriate measurements\nIdentify norma
l/abnormal characteristics of 2D cardiac anatomy and state the role of
cardiac Doppler and list the necessary qualitative/quantitative measu
rements\nIdentify the ultrasound findings associated with valvular hea
rt disease, cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, pericardial dise
ase and cardiac masses\nList the latest imaging techniques in quantifi
cation of right and left ventricle wall motion\nDocument findings and
apply standardized guidelines during compilation of an Echocardiograph
y worksheet (sonographer) and dictated report (Physician)\nList the st
eps necessary for system optimization during contrast echo imaging\nIn
crease confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques & interpretatio
 n criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy\n\n \n\nTopics\n\
nImaging Fundamentals\nAnatomy of the Heart and EKG\n2D Evaluation of
Cardiac Anatomy, Measurements, and Normal Values\nParasternal and Supr
 asternal Windows\nApical and Subcostal Windows\nDoppler Fundamentals &
