ESCRIPTION:\nCourse Objectives:\n\nAt the completion of the program th
e participant should be able to:\n\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiology
of the upper and lower extremity venous systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/
color physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to
optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this information for
recognizing technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Per
form routine scan protocols and document Doppler waveforms for venous
evaluations of the lower extremity for DVT and venous insufficiency.\n
 4. Recognize image characteristics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n5.Sca
n superficial vessels and perforators to rule in venous insufficiency
and to determine if the patient is at risk for revascularization of a
ligated vein.\n6. Increase the participant's knowledge to better perfo
rm and/or interpret lower extremity venous evaluation for vein closure
procedures.\n7. Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting
, under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency h
 as been achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n\n- Doppler fundamentals\n- Venou
s anatomy/scan techniques and normal characteristics\n- Evaluation of
venous pathology\n- Live demo: evaluation for DVT\n- Upper extremity v
 enous evaluation\n- Saphenous vein mapping\n- Duplex/Color examination
of venous insufficiency\n- Venous case studies\n- Evaluation of venou
s insufficiency for vein therapy (webinar, see \"Before You Come to th
 e Course\" above)\n- Hands-on sessions\n\nWho Can Attend?\n\nSonograph
ers, physicians & other medical professionals who are at an entry leve
l of performing venous examinations for pre and post vein ablation pro
cedures. Physician may include (but are not limited to) those involved
with internal medicine, cardiology, radiology and general/vascular su
 rgery.\n\nINSTRUCTORS:\nBendick\n\nCME HOURS: 16\n\nLECTURE TOPICS:\nU
