SUMMARY:Intro to Venous Imaging and Ultrasound Evaluation for Vein The
 rapy
DESCRIPTION:Intro to Venous Imaging and Ultrasound Evaluation for Vein
  Therapy -- October 2011\n\nStart Date: 10/27/2011\nEnd Date: 10/28/20
 11\nAdvanced Registration: $1,425.00\nRegular Registration: $1,465.00\
nLocation: Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute\n4615 Gulf Blvd., Suite 205\
nSt. Pete Beach, FL 33706\n\n*The Advanced Registration fee is honored
if payment is made/postmarked 21 days or more prior to the beginning
date of the program\n\nA $100.00 late fee will apply if registering le
ss than or equal to 7 Days before the course. Call to register if less
than or equal to 7 days from course date.\n\nObjectives & Topics\n\nA
t the completion of this program, the participant should be able to:\n
\n• Identify the anatomy/physiology of the upper & lower extremity v
enous systems.\n• Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able to (sono
graphers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (physi
cians) utilize this information for recognizing technical errors which
may result in misdiagnosis.\n• Perform routine scan protocols, and
document Doppler waveforms for venous evaluation of the lower extremit
y including pre and post vein ablation evaluation.\n• Identify norma
l/abnormal spectral Doppler/color characteristics and waveform charact
eristics for identifying venous disease.\n• Recognize image characte
ristics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n• Discuss the use of Ultrasoun
d-Guidance and its role in the treatment of venous insufficiency.\n•
Perform evaluation for venous insufficiency to determine suitability
for vein therapy treatment and to determine patency of perforators.\nâ
€¢ State the diagnostic criteria for identifying significant venous in
sufficiency.\n• Increase the participants’ knowledge to better per
form and/or interpret lower extremity venous evaluation for vein closu
re procedures.\n• Apply the information discussed in a clinical sett
ing, under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficienc
 y has been achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n• Doppler fundamentals\n•
Venous anatomy/scan techniques and normal characteristics\n• Evaluat
ion of venous pathology\n• Live demo: evaluation for DVT and venous
insufficiency\n• Upper extremity venous evaluation\n• Saphenous ve
in mapping\n• U/S evaluation for pre and post vein ablation therapy\
n• Venous insufficiency and perforator evaluation\n• Hands-on sess
ions\n\nFaculty\nPhil Bendick, PhD, RVT\nDirector, Vascular Laboratory
 \nWilliam Beaumont Hospital\nRoyal Oak, MI\nConsultant accepting honor
arium from Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute, Inc.\n\nTarget Audience\nSo
nographers, physicians, PAs and other medical professionals who are at
an entry level of performing venous exams for eval. of DVT & pre & po
st U/S eval. for vein ablation procedures. Physician may include (but
are not limited to) internists, cardiologists, radiologists and genera
 l/vascular surgeons.\n\nCME Credit Statements\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasoun
d Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicia
ns.\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute designates this educational
activity for a maximum of 16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit(s)â„¢. Ph
ysicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of thei
r participation in the activity.\n\nThis course also meets CME/CEU req
uirements for ARDMS. Note: While offering the CME credit hours noted a
bove, activities are not intended to provide extensive training or cer
tification for exam performance or interpretation.\n\nFor more informa
