SUMMARY:Intro to Venous Imaging and Ultrasound Evaluation for Vein The
 rapy
DESCRIPTION:Program Name: Intro to Venous Imaging and Ultrasound Evalu
ation for Vein Therapy -- January 2011\nStart Date: 01/27/2011\nEnd Da
 te: 01/28/2011\nAMA Cat. 1 CME Credits: 16.0\nOther CME Credits:\nAdva
 nced Registration: $1,425.00\nRegular Registration: $1,465.00\nLocatio
n: Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute, Inc.\nAddress: 4615 Gulf Blvd. Ste
205\nSt. Pete Beach, FL 33706\n\nThe Advanced Registration fee is hono
red if payment is made/postmarked 21 days or more prior to the beginni
ng date of the program.\n\nCourse Objectives:\n\nAt the completion of
this program, the participant should be able to:\n\n1. Identify the an
atomy/physiology of the upper & lower extremity venous systems.\n2. Di
scuss Doppler/color physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these
principles to optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this in
formation for recognizing technical errors which may result in misdiag
nosis.\n3. Perform routine scan protocols, and document Doppler wavefo
rms for venous evaluation of the lower extremity including pre and pos
t vein ablation evaluation.\n4. Identify normal/abnormal spectral Dopp
ler/color characteristics and waveform characteristics for identifying
venous disease.\n5. Recognize image characteristics of acute versus c
hronic DVT.\n6. Discuss the use of Ultrasound- Guidance and its role i
n the treatment of venous insufficiency.\n7. Perform evaluation for ve
nous insufficiency to determine suitability for vein therapy treatment
and to determine patency of perforators.\n8. State the diagnostic cri
teria for identifying significant venous insufficiency.\n9. Increase t
he participants’ knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lower
extremity venous evaluation for vein closure procedures.\n10. Apply th
e information discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised condit
ions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nCour
 se Topics:\n\n• Doppler fundamentals\n• Venous anatomy/scan techni
ques and normal characteristics\n• Evaluation of venous pathology\nâ
€¢ Live demo: evaluation for DVT and venous insufficiency\n• Upper e
xtremity venous evaluation\n• Saphenous vein mapping\n• U/S evalua
tion for pre and post vein ablation therapy\n• Venous insufficiency
 and perforator evaluation\n• Hands-on sessions\n\nWho Can Attend?\n\
nSonographers, physicians, PAs and other medical professionals who are
at an entry level of performing venous exams for eval. of DVT & pre &
post U/S eval. for vein ablation procedures. Physician may include (b
ut are not limited to) internists, cardiologists, radiologists and gen
 eral/vascular surgeons.\n\nFaculty:\n\nPhil Bendick, PhD., RVT\nDirect
 or, Vascular Laboratory\nWilliam Beaumont Hospital\nRoyal Oak, MI\nCon
sultant; accepting honorariums from Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute, In
c.\nNo relevant financial relationships to disclose\n\nDoreen Saltiel,
MD, FACC, RPVI\nPresident\nTotal Vein Care\nFort Smith, AR\n\nThe Gul
fcoast Ultrasound Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical educat
ion for physicians.\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute designates t
his educational activity for a maximum of 16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Cred
it(s)â„¢. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the ex
tent of their participation in the activity.\n\nThis course also meets
CME/CEU requirements for ARDMS. Note: While offering the CME credit h
ours noted above, activities are not intended to provide extensive tra
ining or certification for exam performance or interpretation.\n\nFor
