SUMMARY:Intro to Carotid and Intro to Venous Imaging and Ultrasound Ev
 aluation for Vein Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Combined Courses: Intro to Carotid and Intro to Venous Ima
ging and Ultrasound Evaluation for Vein Therapy, October 2011\n\nStart
  Date: 10/24/2011\nEnd Date: 10/28/2011\nAdvanced Registration: $2,975
 .00\nRegular Registration: $3,055.00\nLocation: Gulfcoast Ultrasound I
nstitute\n4615 Gulf Blvd., Suite 205\nSt. Pete Beach, FL 33706\n\n*The
Advanced Registration fee is honored if payment is made/postmarked 21
days or more prior to the beginning date of the program\n\nA $100.00

the course. Call to register if less than or equal to 7 days from cou
rse date.\n\nObjectives & Topics\nAt the completion of this program, t
he participant should be able to:\n\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiolog
y of the upper & lower extremity venous systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/c
olor physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to o
ptimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this information for r
ecognizing technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Perf
orm routine scan protocols, and document Doppler waveforms for venous
evaluation of the lower extremity including pre and post vein ablation
  evaluation.\n4. Identify normal/abnormal spectral Doppler/color chara
cteristics and waveform characteristics for identifying venous disease
.\n5. Recognize image characteristics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n6.
Discuss the use of Ultrasound-Guidance and its role in the treatment
of venous insufficiency.\n7. Perform evaluation for venous insufficien
cy to determine suitability for vein therapy treatment and to determin
e patency of perforators.\n8. State the diagnostic criteria for identi
fying significant venous insufficiency.\n9. Increase the participantsâ
€™ knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lower extremity venous
evaluation for vein closure procedures.\n10. Apply the information di
scussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an ac
cepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n•
Doppler fundamentals\n• Venous anatomy/scan techniques and normal ch
aracteristics\n• Evaluation of venous pathology\n• Live demo: eval
uation for DVT and venous insufficiency\n• Upper extremity venous ev
aluation\n• Saphenous vein mapping\n• U/S evaluation for pre and p
ost vein ablation therapy\n• Venous insufficiency and perforator eva
 luation\n• Hands-on sessions\n\nTarget Audience\nSonographers, physi
cians, PAs and other medical professionals who are at an entry level o
f performing venous exams for eval. of DVT & pre & post U/S eval. for
vein ablation procedures. Physician may include (but are not limited t
 o) internists, cardiologists, radiologists and general/vascular surgeo
ns.\n\nCME Credit Statements\n\nThe Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute is
accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Educati
on to provide continuing medical education for physicians.\n\nThe Gulf
coast Ultrasound Institute designates this educational activity for a
maximum of 40.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit(s)™. Physicians should
only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation
in the activity.\n\nApproved by the ASRT for 23.0 Category A continui
ng education credit. Note: ASRT credits are accepted by the ARRT as Ca
tegory A credits.\n\nThis course also meets CME/CEU requirements for A
RDMS. Note: While offering the CME credit hours noted above, activitie
s are not intended to provide extensive training or certification for
exam performance or interpretation.\n\nFor more information visit http
