SUMMARY:Image-Based Neurodiagnosis: Intensive Clinical and Radiologic
 Review, CAQ Preparation
DESCRIPTION:Image-Based Neurodiagnosis:\nIntensive Clinical and Radiol
 ogic Review,\nCAQ Preparation\n\nApril 6-9, 2011\n\nProScan Imaging Th
eater\nCincinnati, OH\n\n32 AMA PRA (Physician Recognition Award) Cate
gory 1 Credits™\n\nOVERVIEW\n\n\"Image-Based Neurodiagnosis” is de
signed for the practicing radiologist, neurosurgeon, neurologist, or r
elated specialist seeking a thorough review of advanced neuroimaging p
rinciples, anatomy, and exhaustive case material. Discussions of imagi
ng strategies and new modalities will be correlated with a broad range
of specific clinical images, focusing on the development of appropria
te differential diagnoses and the distinctions that will aid in the re
solution of clinical diagnostic dilemmas. This course will include bot
h adult and pediatric entities, covering the range of subjects include
d in the American Board of Radiology’s Certificate of Added Qualific
ation (CAQ) in Neuroradiology examination.\n\n\nDuring the popular cas
e review sessions, Malcolm Shupeck, M.D., F.A.C.S., Associate Medical
Director, will present selected cases with Stephen J. Pomeranz, M.D. E
ach case will be discussed with particular teaching points that supple
ment the course lectures, and the reports generated will be distribute

 ologists\n• Neuroimaging specialists\n• Neurosurgeons\n• Primary
care physicians\n• Referring physicians\n• Radiologic technologis

d be able to:\n• Use their detailed anatomic knowledge to precisely
localize pathology within the brain, spine, head, and neck;\n• Relia
bly resolve clinical diagnostic dilemmas, such as stroke versus tumor,
demyelination versus microvasculopathy, discitis versus degenerative
endplate changes;\n• Utilize MRI physics concepts to analyze and imp
 rove image quality and modify sequences in response to clinical needs;
\n• Acquire an understanding of advanced techniques, including diffu
sion, perfusion, tractography, and spectroscopy, and their clinical ap
plications;\n• Appropriately select and interpret advanced methods o
f vascular imaging;\n• Demonstrate increased insight into clinical d
ecision-making in the management of hydrocephalus, degenerative disc d
isease, and neoplasia of the brain and spine;\n• Define essentials o
f imaging diagnosis of neurodegenerative and demyelinating conditions
and provide clinical correlation;\n• Acquire facility with the imagi
ng diagnosis of conditions affecting the nervous system in children; r
esulting in practice improvements and better patient care.\n\nPHYSICIA
