N:\nAt the completion of the program the participant should be able to
:\n\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiology of the upper and lower extremi
ty venous systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able to (s
onographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (ph
ysicians) utilize this information for recognizing technical errors wh
ich may result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Perform routine scan protocols and
document Doppler waveforms for venous evaluations of the lower extrem
ity for DVT and venous insufficiency.\n4. Recognize image characterist
ics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n5. Scan superficial vessels and perf
orators to rule in venous insufficiency and to determine if the patien
t is at risk for revascularization of a ligated vein.\n6. Increase the
participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lower extr
emity venous evaluation for vein closure procedures.\n7. Apply the inf
ormation discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions
until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nINSTRUCTO
