 RIPTION:\nAt the completion of the program the participant should be a
 ble to:\n\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiology of the upper and lower e
 xtremity venous systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able
  to (sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls 
 or (physicians) utilize this information for recognizing technical err
 ors which may result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Perform routine scan protoco
 ls and document Doppler waveforms for venous evaluations of the lower 
 extremity for DVT and venous insufficiency.\n4. Recognize image charac
 teristics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n5. Scan superficial vessels an
 d perforators to rule in venous insufficiency and to determine if the 
 patient is at risk for revascularization of a ligated vein.\n6. Increa
 se the participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lowe
 r extremity venous evaluation for vein closure procedures.\n7. Apply t
 he information discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised condi
 tions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nINS
