 ION:\nAt the completion of the program the participant should be able 
 to:\n\n1. Identify the anatomy/physiology of the upper and lower extre
 mity venous systems.\n2. Discuss Doppler/color physics and be able to 
 (sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls or (
 physicians) utilize this information for recognizing technical errors 
 which may result in misdiagnosis.\n3. Perform routine scan protocols a
 nd document Doppler waveforms for venous evaluations of the lower extr
 emity for DVT and venous insufficiency.\n4. Recognize image characteri
 stics of acute versus chronic DVT.\n5. Scan superficial vessels and pe
 rforators to rule in venous insufficiency and to determine if the pati
 ent is at risk for revascularization of a ligated vein.\n6. Increase t
 he participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret lower ex
 tremity venous evaluation for vein closure procedures.\n7. Apply the i
 nformation discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised condition
 s until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n\nINSTRUC
