 mpletion of the program the participant should be able to:\n\n1. Ident
 ify the anatomy/physiology of the cerebrovascular system.\n2. Discuss 
 Doppler/color physics and be able to (sonographers) apply these princi
 ples to optimize system controls or (physicians) utilize this informat
 ion for identifying technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.
 \n3. Perform routine scan protocols, and Doppler calculations in a com
 plete carotid duplex/color examination.\n4. Identify normal/abnormal s
 pectral Doppler/ color characteristics; explain methods for obtaining 
 quantitative information and state the diagnostic relevance of each me
 asurement.\n5. Desscribe and characterize plaque and other pathology a
 ssociated with cerebrovascular disease.\n6. Discuss Intima-Media Thick
 ness measurements and evaluation and their clinical significance as a 
 screening method for cardiovascular disease.\n7. Apply the information
  discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an
  accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.\n8. Increase knowled
 ge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examinations.\n\nINSTRUC
