 ticipant should be able to:\n\n1. Discuss the basic fundamentals of ul
 trasound physics/instrumentation and recognize image artifacts.\n2. De
 monstrate the operation of the ultrasound system controls and transduc
 er selection.\n3. Perform routine scan protocols for evaluation of the
  abdomen, venous system of the lower and upper extremities, thorax and
  adult heart.\n4. Recognize normal/abnormal image characteristics of t
 he abdomen, thorax, upper and lower extremity venous system and adult 
 heart.\n5. Describe image orientation, transducer preparation, and sca
 n protocols for performing use of ultrasound guidance in the placement
  of peripheral and central venous lines and arterial catheters.\n6. De
 monstrate ultrasound applications in the evaluation of the critically 
 ill unstable patient.\n7. Apply the information discussed in a clinica
 l setting, under supervised conditions until an acceptable level of pr
 oficiency and appropriate hospital credentialing has been achieved.\n8
 . Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examin
