 ING DESCRIPTION:\nAt the completion of the program the participant sho
 uld be able to:\n\n1. Discuss the basic fundamentals of ultrasound phy
 sics/instrumentation and recognize image artifacts.\n2. Demonstrate th
 e operation of the ultrasound system controls and transducer selection
 .\n3. Perform routine scan protocols for evaluation of the abdomen, ve
 nous system of the lower and upper extremities, thorax and adult heart
 .\n4. Recognize normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen, 
 thorax, upper and lower extremity venous system and adult heart.\n5. D
 escribe image orientation, transducer preparation, and scan protocols 
 for performing use of ultrasound guidance in the placement of peripher
 al and central venous lines and arterial catheters.\n6. Demonstrate ul
 trasound applications in the evaluation of the critically ill unstable
  patient.\n7. Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, u
 nder supervised conditions until an acceptable level of proficiency an
 d appropriate hospital credentialing has been achieved.\n8. Increase k
 nowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret examinations.\n\nI
