SUMMARY:Gynecological Ultrasound
DESCRIPTION:Ultrasound is playing an increasingly important role in gy
 necology. Important additional information can be added to the physica
 l exam findings when the uterus and ovaries are visualized with ultras
 ound. This two day course will familiarize you with the skills and tec
 hniques needed to obtain diagnostic images. We will begin the course w
 ith a lecture reviewing the basic knowledge needed to properly perform
  and interpret transabdominal and endovaginal ultrasound scans.\nThis 
 knowledge will then be utilized in our hands on scan lab where partici
 pants have the opportunity to practice scanning a variety of models. F
 aculty supervised scanning builds confidence and aids in the hand-eye 
 coordination necessary to perform and interpret the ultrasound exam. T
 he addition of Doppler to the study will aid in the diagnosis and inte
 rpretation of pelvic pathology.\nScan With the Experts\nSometimes it t
 akes an additional day or two of scanning to generate confidence in yo
 ur new skill set.  If you would like to add a day or two, all our ult
 rasound skills courses can be scheduled with additional scan days in o

 bjectives\nAt the completion of this course, the learner will be able 
 to:\n\nSuccessfully complete transabdominal and endovaginal ultrasound
  examinations and  protocols according to AIUM guidelines.\nIdentify 
 and display appropriate normal anatomy and orientation in the ultrasou
 nd field of view.\nUse an endovaginal transducer to perform the proced
 ure.\nDemonstrate techniques for transducer cleaning and infection con
 trol.\nUse Doppler ultrasound as an adjunct imaging method when approp
 riate in a gynecological exam.\n\nCourse Topics\n\nPhysics and Instrum

 omy and Normal Variants\nOvarian, uterine, and tubal pathology evaluat
 ion\nEctopic Pregnancy\nSonohysterography\nCase Studies and Analysis\n
 Hands-on Scan Lab\n\nTarget Audience\nPhysicians, Sonographers, PA’s
 , Nurse Practioners, Midwives and other medical professionals using ul
 trasound to aid in the diagnosis of the GYN patient. Physicians can in
 clude but are not limited to the specialties of OB/GYN, Family Medicin
 e, Emergency Medicine or Radiology.\nCME Credit\n\n“The Advanced Hea
