DESCRIPTION:Upon completion of the program, the participant should be 
 able to:\nDiscuss the basic imaging fundamentals of ultrasound physics
 /instrumentation and describe image artifacts.\nExplain the operation 
 of the U/S system controls & appropriate transducer selection for diff
 erent applications.\nDemonstrate proper transducer manipulation and sy
 stem optimization to produce diagnostic images.\nPerform ultrasound ev
 aluation of the trauma patient in the pre-hospital setting (PFAST exam
 ).\nDifferentiate normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen
  including aorta and adult heart.\nDemonstrate the use of ultrasound g
 uidance for vascular access.\nDescribe image orientation, transducer p
 lacement, and scan protocols for performing ultrasound for evaluation 
 of pneumothorax.\nIncrease participant’s knowledge to better perform
