SUMMARY:CT Training Course for Technologists
DESCRIPTION:CT Training Course for Technologists\n\nCourse Overview\n\
nThe technology of medical imaging\nhas undergone a tremendous change
since the Nobel prize-winning development of computed tomography. Beco
ming knowledgeable about high technology imaging is essential for the
radiologic technologist to grow with the field.\n\nThis course will pr
ovide technologists with the opportunity to learn this technology and
become part of the evolution toward electronic computerized imaging. T
his is an opportunity to improve your technical knowledge and prepare
for the ARRT CT Registry Examination. If you are looking to enhance yo
ur job opportunities or provide yourself with\na more satisfying work
experience,\nthen this course is for you.\n\nThis course is appropriat
e for technologists wishing to enter the field of CT scanning with no
previous experience as well as technologists who have worked in CT wit
hout extensive formal training. A working background in cross-sectiona
l anatomy is desirable, but is not required.\n\nCourse Objectives\n\nA
t the completion of this course,\nparticipants will be able to:\ndescr
ibe the basic principles and concepts of computed tomography.\nincorpo
rate scanning techniques\nlearned to best demonstrate\nanatomy and pat
hology.\ndescribe techniques in manipulating\nCT parameters to optimiz
e image quality.\nrecognize CT artifacts and describe techniques to mi
nimize their occurrence.\ncompare the advantages and disadvantages of
various CT\nscanner configurations.\n\nPrerequisite for this course is
ARRT registration or state licensure. Contact MTMI for details.\n\nFa
 culty\nDoug Simpkin, PhD\nChristine Eckenrod, RT(R)(CT)(MR)\n\nExtende
d Clinical Training Program\n\nMTMI has established a CT Technologist
On-site Clinical Training Program. This program is intended to follow
the one-week formal training course for technologists offered by MTMI.
Satisfactory completion of a comparable formal training course will b
e a prerequisite for participation. Various clinical training location
s around Milwaukee, WI are arranged on an individual basis. Space is l
imited for this training. The cost of this training is $225 per day or
$795 per week. (The extended clinical training program is not designe
d to meet all the ARRT Clinical Competency Requirements).\n\nCourse Cr
edit\n\nThis program provides 38 Category A continuing education credi

must attend the entire course to receive full credit. Credit from vari
ous licensure states has also been applied for.\n\nRecommended Reading
\n\nOn the first day of the course you will be given a course syllabus
containing all the course material.\nIn addition we recommend these b
ooks:\n\"Computed Tomography\",\n\"Sectional Anatomy for Imaging Profe
ssionals\",\n\"Pocket Atlas of CT Volume I\",\n\"Pocket Atlas of CT Vo
lume II\", and\n\"Pocket Atlas of CT Volume III\"\n\nFor more informat
