DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: All registered sonographers, student sono
 graphers, and radiologic technologists who desire entry level training
  with vascular ultrasound.\n \nOverall goal of activity: To enhance t
 he knowledge and skills in the areas of vascular technology, sonograph
 ic principles and instrumention, and other topics related to sonograph
 y\n \nDescription: This course focuses on normal findings and technic
 al aspects of carotid sonography including vertebral and intracranial 
 arteries. An introduction to ultrasound physicis and its specific appl
 ication to carotid duplex scanning, anatomy of the extracranial caroti
 d system, ultrasound assessment of carotid plaque, carotid stenosis, c
 arotid occlusion, and uncommon carotid pathology will also be discusse
 d.\n \nObjectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant wi
 ll be able to:\n\nDescribe the fundamentals of Doppler principles\nIde
 ntify the ultrasound appearance of normal carotid anatomy and flow\nDe
 scribe the role of ultrasound in the management of cerebrovascular dis
 ease\nDescribe the normal findings and technical aspects of carotid so
 nography\nDescribe the ultrasound assessment of carotid plaque, stenos
 is, and pathology\nDemonstrate the use of color and duplex imaging to 
 evaluate carotid flow.\nPerform a basic carotid ultrasound evaluation
