DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: All registered sonographers, student sono
 graphers, and radiologic technologists who desire entry level training
  with vascular ultrasound.\n \nOverall goal of activity: Designed to 
 enhance the knowledge and skills in the areas of vascular technology b
 y introducing participants to laboratory acceptable scanning protocols
  and extensive hands-on training.\n \nDescription: This one day, non-
 physics course focuses on the technical aspects of ultrasound assessme
 nt of the carotid and vertebral arteries. Topics will include: cerebro
 vascular anatomy, various scanning protocols, and scanning tips. Empha
 sis will be placed on developing scanning skills through hands-on scan
 ning clinics. \n \nObjectives: Upon completion of this course, the p
 articipant will be able to:\n\nIdentify the ultrasound appearance of n
 ormal carotid anatomy and flow\nDescribe the normal findings and techn
 ical aspects of carotid sonography\nDescribe the ultrasound assessment
  of carotid plaque, stenosis, and pathology\nDemonstrate the use of co
 lor and duplex imaging to evaluate carotid flow.\nPerform a basic caro
 tid ultrasound evaluation using the correct protocol\n\nApproved for 6
