SUMMARY:Carotid Duplex Ultrasound
DESCRIPTION:Register early and save! Please register early and reserve
your place by providing payment to avoid an additional $25 fee requir
ed for registrations given within two (2) weeks of the course.\nVascul
ar ultrasound has progressed over the years to become much more than a
screening tool. From its early beginnings of grainy black and white t
wo dimensional images, to the addition of Doppler and color flow, it h
as become the modality of choice for early detection of peripheral art
erial, cerebrovascular, and venous disease. For the detection of DVT a
nd venous reflux, duplex testing is now the gold standard other modali
ties are compared to. Accurate diagnostic testing of the vascular syst
em requires a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and hemodynamics
as well as the various pathological conditions that can present. Multi
ple variables such as cardiac output, dehydration, and infection can a
ll have an impact on the vascular system.\nThis two-day seminar provid
es an overview of physics and instrumentation, anatomy and hemodynamic
s, and diagnostic criteria suitable for anyone from an experienced son
ographer to the beginner. For the physician wanting a more thorough un
derstanding of the capabilities and potential of the vascular lab, alo
ng with interpretative criteria, our extensive library of case studies
will prove invaluable. Our scan lab and state of the art equipment, a
long with our low student instructor ratios allow you plenty of time t
o perfect your protocol, and acquire the scanning experience necessary
to perform diagnostic vascular exams.\n*This course can be taken indi
vidually as a two (2) day course OR part of the Vascular Ultrasound se
ven (7) day course.\nObjectives At the completion of this course, the
learner will be able to:\n\nCorrectly identify vessel anatomy and orie
ntation in a vascular ultrasound examination.\nIdentify the variations
in instrumentation and Doppler principles and the effects in scanning
parameters.\nDescribe the flow characteristics and the manifestations
of disease processes.\nDiscuss QA of the procedure and equipment.\nAn
alyze the results of a vascular exam for pathological conditions and i
n certain cases, quantify the diseases.\nIdentify additional resource
information on vascular ultrasound.\n\nCourse Topics\n\nDay one of thi
s two day seminar starts with an overview of the physical principles o
f ultrasound including Doppler and color flow, followed by a comprehen
sive review of the ultrasound platform controls enabling you to optimi
ze your system for even the most difficult patient. After lunch you wi
ll be introduced to our scan lab with state of the art equipment platf
orms and low student instructor ratios where you will learn the specif
ic controls for each of the platforms on the floor, basic scanning tec
hniques, and patient positioning.\nDay two starts carotid duplex testi
ng. This includes anatomy, hemodynamics, diagnostic criteria, case stu
dies, pearls and pitfalls, as well as standardized reporting. After lu
nch you will again be in the scan lab working on protocols, technique,
and documentation of your studies.\n\n*This course can be taken as a
two day course, or as days 1 – 2 of the seven day Vascular Ultrasoun
 d course.\n\n\nFor more information visit https://community.radrounds.
