p Due to a limited staffing in today’s healthcare facilities, it is
often necessary for radiologic technologists to be cross-trained to fu
nction in both the imaging department and the interventional radiology
suite. This exciting course will provide a wealth of information to t
he radiologic technologist or special procedures technologist working
in these high volume areas. The course will begin with coverage of all
aspects of patient care related to examinations in these specialty ar
eas, Venipuncture, contrast media administration and reactions and bas
ic EKG interpretation. The following course day will deal with sterile
technique, procedural supplies, closure devices, imaging equipment an
d radiation safety for the technologist and patient. The final portion
of the course will be related to procedures performed in the interven
tional radiology department. This three-week modular course is designe
d to introduce the technologist to cardiovascular technology principle
s and practice. Classroom instruction will include patient care, Venip
uncture, contrast media and reactions, basic EKG interpretation, radia
tion safety, an overview of the cardiovascular system and its related
disease processes, and vascular and interventional radiology procedure
 s. Course Topics: Week 1-Theory (Total 24 hours) Day 1 • Patient Car
 e • Venipuncture • Contrast Media and Treatment of Reactions • E
mergency Care • EKG interpretation Day 2 • Equipment and Instrumen
tation • Radiation Safety in the Specialty Areas • Vascular Basics
  • Cardiovascular Disease and Pathology • Procedural Consideration
 s Day 3 • Vascular – Interventional Procedures o Neurologic Imagin

de insights, advice and help you get the most out of your training. Ce
rtificate of Completion awarded will reflect clinical hours completed.
**No CE credit is awarded for clinical hours. Clinical Prerequisites
