SUMMARY:Cardiac CT Visiting Fellowship with Optional Cardiac MR
DESCRIPTION:Cardiac CT Visiting Fellowship with Optional Cardiac MR Pr
ogram\nat the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania\n\nLearning O
bjectives\n\nThis fellowship has been designed for radiologists and ca
rdiologists wishing to incorporate new cardiac applications of CT and
MR technology into their clinical practice.\n\nTopics include instrume
ntation, principles of patient selection, imaging protocols, study int
erpretation and reporting. Specific applications include ischemic, non
ischemic, and congenital heart disease, valvular, pericardial, and ele
ctrophysiologic disease, and extensive coverage of coronary artery ima
ging.\n\nIntroductory cardiology topics will be provided for radiologi
sts along with basic radiology principles (including non-cardiac patho
logy in the chest) for cardiologists. In addition, this activity will
provide sufficient case material to satisfy guidelines for ACC/AHA Lev
el I training in Cardiac CT and approximately one-half of the case req
uirements for Level II.\n\nUpon completion of the program, participant
s will be able to:\n\nPart I\n\n1.Utilize MR in CVI with increased kno
wledge of imaging methods and principles and the relevant anatomy and
pathophysiology of common cardiovascular disorders.\n2.Evaluate ischem
ic heart disease, congenital, valvular, myocardial and pericardial dise
ase as well as cardiac tumors using MR.\n\nPart II\n\n1. Utilize CT in
CVI with increased knowledge of imaging methods and principles and th
e relevant anatomy and pathophysiology of common cardiovascular disord
ers.\n2. Select the appropriate patients and identify how to prepare t
hem for Cardiac CT.\n3. Use the correct techniques to perform Cardiac
CT.\n4. Evaluate atherosclerotic, valvular, congenital, and electrophy
siologic disease using cardiac CT.\n5. Describe relevant training guid
elines for Cardiac CT & MR practice.\n6. Independently process and int
erpret cardiac CT data sets.\n\nAccreditation\n\nThe University of Pen
nsylvania School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Counci
l for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medic
al education for physicians. The University of Pennsylvania School of
Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 36.25 A
MA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit comm
ensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.\n\nPa
