SUMMARY:Cardiac CT Visiting Fellowship with Optional Cardiac MR
DESCRIPTION:Cardiac CT Visiting Fellowship with Optional Cardiac MR Pr
ogram at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania\n\nApril 11-15
, 2011\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nThis fellowship has been designed for
radiologists and cardiologists wishing to incorporate new cardiac app
lications of CT and MR technology into their clinical practice.\n\nTop
ics include instrumentation, principles of patient selection, imaging
protocols, study interpretation and reporting. Specific applications i
nclude ischemic, nonischemic, and congenital heart disease, valvular,
pericardial, and electrophysiologic disease, and extensive coverage of
coronary artery imaging.\n\nIntroductory cardiology topics will be pr
ovided for radiologists along with basic radiology principles (includi
ng non-cardiac pathology in the chest) for cardiologists. In addition,
this activity will provide sufficient case material to satisfy guidel
ines for ACC/AHA Level I training in Cardiac CT and approximately one-
half of the case requirements for Level II.\n\nUpon completion of the
program, participants will be able to:\nPart I\n1. Utilize MR in CVI w
ith increased knowledge of imaging methods and principles and the rele
vant anatomy and pathophysiology of common cardiovascular disorders.\n
 2. Evaluate ischemic heart disease, congenital, valvular, myocardial an
d pericardial disease as well as cardiac tumors using MR.\n\nPart II\n
 1. Utilize CT in CVI with increased knowledge of imaging methods and p
rinciples and the relevant anatomy and pathophysiology of common cardi
ovascular disorders.\n2. Select the appropriate patients and identify
how to prepare them for Cardiac CT.\n3. Use the correct techniques to
perform Cardiac CT.\n4. Evaluate atherosclerotic, valvular, congenital
, and electrophysiologic disease using cardiac CT.\n5. Describe releva
nt training guidelines for Cardiac CT & MR practice.\n6. Independently
process and interpret cardiac CT data sets.\n\nAccreditation\n\nThe U
niversity of Pennsylvania School of Medicine is accredited by the Accr
editation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide
continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Pennsyl
vania School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a ma
ximum of 36.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only c
laim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the
  activity.\n\nPart I: 7.75 credits\nPart II: 14.5 credits\nPart III: 1
2.5 credits\n\nUniversity of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Faculty:\
nCourse Director: Harold Litt, MD, PhD\n\nWilliam W. Boonn, MD\nBenoit
  Dejardins, MD, PhD\nVictor A. Ferrari, MD\nSaurabh Jha, MD\n\nDisclos
ures\n\nUniversity of Pennsylvania School of Medicine,Office of Contin
uing Medical Education, adheres to the ACCME Standards for Commercial
Support. Faculty disclosure information will be made available in the
conference materials and syllabi. Faculty members are also expected to
disclose to participants any discussion of off-label and/or investiga
tional use of pharmaceutical products or devices during the presentati
 on.\n\nTuition\n\nPart I (Optional): $500\nDidactic lectures in Cardia
 c MR\n\nParts II & III: $3500\nDidactic lectures in Cardiac CT and 75
Cases for review over 1 1/2 days at individual post-processing worksta
tion followed by faculty review, including 25 videotaped acquisitions
towards Level II live case requirement.\n\nOptional Two to Four Week V
