 1361\nDescription:The importance of ultrasound as an adjunct procedure
  to mammography is well documented. The normal anatomy, physiology, an
 d pathologic conditions evaluated by ultrasound will be the basis of t
 his educational activity. The increased utilization of breast ultrasou
 nd requires clinicians to integrate the fundamentals of sonography and
  mammography to enhance the value of breast ultrasound. The course com
 bines classroom learning with practical hands on scanning to maximize 
 the learning experience. Ultrasound-guided interventional procedures a
 nd examination of breast implants will be discussed. Case studies will
  be utilized to correlate the mammogram with the breast ultrasound, an
 d to recognize breast ultrasound artifacts.\nObjectives At the complet
 ion of this course, the learner will be able to: â€¢ Describe the role
  of breast ultrasound as an adjunct to mammography in the evaluation o
 f breast disease â€¢ Identify and display appropriate normal anatomy a
 nd orientation in the ultrasound field of view â€¢ Describe basic scan
 ning protocols â€¢ Correlate areas of suspicion on the ultrasound and 
 mammogram â€¢ Demonstrate a working knowledge of the equipment knobolo
 gy â€¢ Choose the correct transducer for the ultrasound examination â€
 ¢ Successfully complete a basic breast ultrasound examination followin
 g correct patient preparation and procedure protocols â€¢ Identify bre
 ast ultrasound artifacts and methods utilized to reduce their occurren
 ce â€¢ Be able to identify sources and research reference materials fo
 r additional information on breast ultrasound\nTarget Audience Physici
 ans seeking entry level information in breast ultrasound. Sonographers
 , mammographers or other health professionals learning breast ultrasou
 nd or cross training.\nCME Credits \"The Advanced Health Education Cen
 ter is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical 
 Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.\" \"
 The Advanced Health Education Center designates this educational activ
 ity for a maximum of 16 hours AMA PRA Category I(tm). Physician should
  claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in t
 he activity.\" \"The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologis
 ts has assigned 14 cognate hours (Formal Learning) to this program.\" 
 \"The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers allows 13.5 hours CE
