 EETING DESCRIPTION:\nThe importance of ultrasound as an adjunct proced
 ure to mammography is well documented. The normal anatomy, physiology,
  and pathologic conditions evaluated by ultrasound will be the basis o
 f this educational activity. The increased utilization of breast ultra
 sound requires clinicians to integrate the fundamentals of sonography 
 and mammography to enhance the value of breast ultrasound. The course 
 combines classroom learning with practical hands on scanning to maximi
 ze the learning experience. Ultrasound-guided interventional procedure
 s and examination of breast implants will be discussed. Case studies w
 ill be utilized to correlate the mammogram with the breast ultrasound,
  and to recognize breast ultrasound artifacts.\n\nObjectives\nAt the c
 ompletion of this course, the learner will be able to:\n• Describe t
 he role of breast ultrasound as an adjunct to mammography in the evalu
 ation of breast disease\n• Identify and display appropriate normal a
 natomy and orientation in the ultrasound field of view\n• Describe b
 asic scanning protocols\n• Correlate areas of suspicion on the ultra
 sound and mammogram\n• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the equipm
 ent knobology\n• Choose the correct transducer for the ultrasound ex
 amination\n• Successfully complete a basic breast ultrasound examina
 tion following correct patient preparation and procedure protocols\nâ€
