 4\n\nMEETING DESCRIPTION:\nThe importance of ultrasound as an adjunct 
 procedure to mammography is well documented. The normal anatomy, physi
 ology, and pathologic conditions evaluated by ultrasound will be the b
 asis of this educational activity. The increased utilization of breast
  ultrasound requires clinicians to integrate the fundamentals of sonog
 raphy and mammography to enhance the value of breast ultrasound. The c
 ourse combines classroom learning with practical hands on scanning to 
 maximize the learning experience. Ultrasound-guided interventional pro
 cedures and examination of breast implants will be discussed. Case stu
 dies will be utilized to correlate the mammogram with the breast ultra
 sound, and to recognize breast ultrasound artifacts.\n\nObjectives\nAt
  the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:\n• Desc
 ribe the role of breast ultrasound as an adjunct to mammography in the
  evaluation of breast disease\n• Identify and display appropriate no
 rmal anatomy and orientation in the ultrasound field of view\n• Desc
 ribe basic scanning protocols\n• Correlate areas of suspicion on the
  ultrasound and mammogram\n• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the 
 equipment knobology\n• Choose the correct transducer for the ultraso
 und examination\n• Successfully complete a basic breast ultrasound e
 xamination following correct patient preparation and procedure protoco
 ls\n• Identify breast ultrasound artifacts and methods utilized to r
