SUMMARY:Breast Imaging Boot Camp
DESCRIPTION:Breast Imaging Boot Camp\n\nCourse Overview\nThis three-da
y course, led by Gillian M. Newstead, MD, FACR, Robert A. Schmidt, MD,
Michael N. Linver, MD, FACR, and Christopher E. Comstock, MD is desig
ned to provide practicing radiologists with an intensive hands-on expe
rience to breast imaging. Throughout the 3-day program, participants w
ill develop their interpretive expertise in the evaluation of mammogra
phy studies by hands-on interpretation of over 240 digital screening a
nd diagnostic mammograms at their own individual Fuji PACS digital wor
kstation. Participants will enhance their perceptive skills with direc
t assistance from a panel of expert radiologists. Specific instruction
in the use and application of computer-aided techniques will also be
provided. In addition, interventional workshops will be available in b
reast ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy.\n\nThis course satisfies the
following MQSA and ACR accreditation requirements\n\n• Re-establish
ing continuing experience requirements of the MQSA which requires radi
ologists to have interpreted or multi-read, under direct supervision o
f a qualified interpreting physician, at least 240 mammographic examin
ations\n• Initial qualifications for Full Field Digital mammography
(FFDM) under MQSA\n• Continuing education requirements for stereotac
tic breast biopsy\n• Continuing education requirements for ultrasoun
 d-guided breast biopsy\n\nSchedule & Registration\nApr. 28-30, 2011 (T
 hu – Sat)\nMember Fee*: $3,500.00\n\nCourse Director\n\nGillian News
tead, MD, FACR\nProfessor of Radiology\nSection Chief Clinical Breast
 Imaging\nUniversity of Chicago\nChicago, IL\n\nProgram Objectives\nAt
the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:\n\n1.
Optimize perception skills for detection of cancer at digital mammogr
aphic screening\n\n2. Optimize interpretation of digital mammographic
screen-detected findings\n\n3. Learn skills to minimize the call-back
rate for normal/benign findings at mammographic screening\n\n4. Unders
tand the application of computerized techniques as an aid in mammograp
hic interpretation\n\n5. Review of diagnostic work-up of screen-detect
ed findings and symptomatic patients\n\n6. Conduct interventional work
shops for stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsy\n\nAttendees who i
nterpret a minimum of 240 digital mammography examinations will be awa
rded a Certificate stating the actual number of mammographic examinati
ons read under the direct supervision of an interpreting physician, wh
ich will count towards meeting the physician interpretive requirements
for MQSA qualification and certification maintenance.\n\n* Members-in
-Training fee is 50% off member rate. Attendees who register 3 months
in advance will receive a $250 discount (Member-In-Training: $125 disc
