 .\n\nCourse Objectives:\nAt the completion of this program, the partic
 ipant should be able to:\n\n1. Identify sonographic characteristics as
 sociated with hepatobiliary disease, pancreatic pathology, renal disea
 se and fluid localization.\n2. Explain the role of ultrasound for exte
 nded applications including, but not limited to, pneumothorax, ocular 
 and musculoskeletal procedures in the emergency department.\n3. Demons
 trate the use of ultrasound guidance for vascular access.\n4. Explain 
 imag. techniques & scan planes used in cardiac U/S.\n5. Recognize norm
 al cardiac structures & identify ultrasound findings associated with c
 ardiomyopathy, pericardial effusion, cardiogenic shock, dissection & o
 ther hypotensive conditions.\n6. Discuss imaging techniques, normal an
 d abnormal characteristics associated with lower extremity venous exam
 inations.\n7. Explain examination techniques, normal sonographic findi
 ngs and commonly seen abnormalities associated with testicular ultraso
 und.\n8. Describe scanning techniques used in foreign body localizatio
 n.\n9. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret e
 mergency ultrasound examinations.\n10. Apply the information discussed
  in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an acceptabl
 e level of proficiency and appropriate hospital credentialing has been
  achieved.\n\nCourse Topics:\n• 2D cardiac scan planes and normal an
 atomy\n• HOT TOPIC! Sonography in shock and sepsis\n• Cardiac path
 ology, pericardiocentesis, case studies\n• U/S-guided vascular acces
 s\n• Venous imaging techniques\n• Soft tissue infections, musculos
 keletal and foreign body localization applications\n• Testicular and
  scrotal U/S\n• U/S-guided procedures\n• Interactive case studies
