DESCRIPTION:Diagnostic ultrasound has now evolved to become the most c
 ost effective and efficient procedure in the arsenal of diagnostic ima
 ging procedures. With the rising costs of health care, it is a matter 
 of necessity to utilize cost effective, rapid and accurate ways to dia
 gnose and treat patients at the “point of care”. The Agency for He
 althcare Research and Quality has highlighted ultrasound-guided interv
 entions as key implementation of 21st century patient care.  This cou
 rse will address “Next Level” applications of emergency medicine u
 ltrasound and will benefit those practitioners with prior experience i
 n ultrasound.\nThe power and size of the new portable ultrasound equip
 ment has expanded the application of bedside ultrasound from advanced 
 cardiac evaluation and pulmonary applications to ultrasound guided tre
 atments and interventions. Emphasis will be placed on acquisition of t
 he knowledge and scanning skills needed for vascular access techniques
 .  Ultrasound guidance or localization for abscesses, effusions, and 
 foreign bodies, and integration of point-of-care echocardiography int
 o symptom based evaluation of the patient.  The course content is bas
 ed on ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Imaging Criteria for the performance o
 f Emergency Medicine Ultrasound-Guided Procedures.\n\nFor more informa
