SUMMARY:Advanced Emergency Medicine & Critical Care Ultrasound
DESCRIPTION:Gulfcoast Ultrasound’s Advanced Emergency Medicine and C
ritical Care Ultrasound course is designed to build on the knowledge b
ase of experienced emergency ultrasound professionals. This ultrasound
training course incorporates comprehensive lectures, interactive case
presentations, and extensive hands-on scanning, featuring a 3:1 ratio
with live models and inanimate phantoms.\nObjectives\n\nIncrease the
participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Emergency
and Critical Care ultrasound examinations.\nIdentify Sonographic Char
acteristics Associated With Abdominal Sepsis Involving The Hepatobilia
ry, Renal, And GI Systems.\nOutline indications and applications of co
lor Doppler in the emergency and critical care setting.\nPerform ultra
sound evaluation of the lung, ocular, soft-tissue, musculoskeletal, an
d bony cortices in the emergency department. (Optional EM track)\nDemo
nstrate the use of ultrasound guidance for peripheral vascular access.
\nState principles of spectral and cardiac Doppler fundamentals and ap
ply quantitative methods to evaluate acute valvular abnormalities (Opt
ional critical care track).\nRecognize the sonographic appearance of i
ndividual nerves and list the advantages provided when ultrasound is u
sed for performing regional nerve blocks. (Optional EM track)\nEvaluat
e fluid responsiveness in the critically ill patient.\nPerform testicu
lar ultrasound and recognize acute abnormalities. (Optional EM track)\
nIncrease competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques & inter
 pretation criteria to improve diagnostic/treatment accuracy.\n\n \n\n
Topics\n\nSonography in Shock & Source of Sepsis (Gallbladder, Biliary
Tree, Appendix, Bowel Obstruction, Peritonitis & Abscess, Pylonephrit
 is)\nFluid Responsiveness in the Critically Ill\nAdvanced Non-Cardiac
Chest (Sinuses, Larynx, Trachea, Lung & Pleura)\nUltrasound Guided Per
ipheral Vascular Access\nAdvanced Critical Care Track:\nCardiac Dopple
 r & Focused Calculations\nEcho Assessment of Cardiomyopathies & Heart
 Failure\nMitral Insufficiency & Complications\nAdvanced Emergency Trac
