 ience of abdominal ultrasound require a complete and thorough understa
 nding of the knowledge and clinical skills needed to perform these imp
 ortant clinical procedures. This dynamic training course uses an integ
 rated approach of lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on scanning exper
 ience with models to accomplish those training goals in a comprehensiv
 e five day program. Advanced Health Education Center training model fo
 r skills classes follows a systematic approach of presenting a concise
  review of ultrasound physics and instrumentation followed by a sequen
 tial introduction of the abdominal systems with anatomy and vasculatur
 e. Case studies and ultrasound images are used to demonstrate the corr
 elation of ultrasound appearance of normal versus abnormal tissues. Th
 e afternoon hands on scanning labs reinforce the knowledge acquired in
  the lecture setting with the necessary clinical skills to acquire and
  maximize a diagnostic image. By the conclusion of the training course
  participants have acquired the knowledge and skill required to a comp
 lete upper abdomen and small parts protocol. A variety of ultrasound e
 quipment is available in the scan lab. A complete two-week program can
  be accomplished with this course followed by the five day OB/GYN Ultr
 asound course. Objectives At the completion of this course, the learne
 r will be able to: • Utilize the principles of instrumentation to se
 t up ultrasound equipment for scanning. • Recognize and identify the
  organ systems of the abdomen on an ultrasound image. • Perform basi
 c ultrasound procedures on the abdomen patient. • Understand and ide
 ntify pathological variants and their influence in the ultrasound proc
 edure. • Follow the sequence of an abdominal ultrasound procedure fr
 om the beginning to its conclusion. Course Topics • Ultrasound Physi
