DESCRIPTION:The Art and Science of abdominal ultrasound require a comp
 lete and thorough understanding of the knowledge and clinical skills n
 eeded to perform these important clinical procedures. This dynamic tra
 ining course uses an integrated approach of lecture, demonstrations, a
 nd hands-on scanning experience with models to accomplish those traini
 ng goals in a comprehensive five day program. Advanced Health Educatio
 n Center training model for skills classes follows a systematic approa
 ch of presenting a concise review of ultrasound physics and instrument
 ation followed by a sequential introduction of the abdominal systems w
 ith anatomy and vasculature. Case studies and ultrasound images are us
 ed to demonstrate the correlation of ultrasound appearance of normal v
 ersus abnormal tissues. The afternoon hands on scanning labs reinforce
  the knowledge acquired in the lecture setting with the necessary clin
 ical skills to acquire and maximize a diagnostic image. By the conclus
 ion of the training course participants have acquired the knowledge an
 d skill required to a complete upper abdomen and small parts protocol.
  A variety of ultrasound equipment is available in the scan lab. A com
 plete two-week program can be accomplished with this course followed b
