 MEETING DESCRIPTION:\nProgram Description:\nThe three-day Abdominal pr
 ogram covers the broad range of applications for ultrasound evaluation
  of the abdomen. The program consists of lectures supplemented by demo
 nstrations and case reviews. The Saturday optional hands-on experience
  with live models is provides an opportunity for clinicians to hone sk
 ills and develop new ones.\n\nEmphasis is placed on an integrated appr
 oach combining details of normal ultrasound anatomy and typical ultras
 ound patterns of abdominal pathology.\n\nLecture Topics:\nSpecific lec
 ture topics include a review of principles of ultrasound physics, inst
 rumentation and imaging techniques including Doppler, and ultrasound e
 valuation of:\n\n- Detailed abdominal vascular anatomy\n- Liver\n- Bil
 iary System\n- Kidneys and Retroperitoneum\n- Pancreas\n- Spleen\n- Gr
 eat Vessels\n- Thyroid and Parathroid\n- Urinary Bladder\n- Scrotum\n-
  Pediatric Abdomen (limited)\n\nA typical class day runs from 9:00 am 
 to 5:00 pm. An optional hands-on scanning session is available on Satu
 rday morning from 9:00 am to approximately noon. This session allows s
 tudents the opportunity to scan models using a variety of ultrasound e
 quipment.\n\nEducational Objectives:\nThrough attending this course, t
 he participant should be able to:\n\n- appreciate the relationship bet
 ween acoustic physics and the sonographic representation of tissue\n\n
 - recognize the acoustic representation of normal abdominal anatomy an
 d identify pathologies of the abdomen from ultrasound images\n\n- unde
