SUMMARY:Abdominal Doppler Ultrasound
DESCRIPTION:Abdominal Doppler has become an addition in the arsenal of
tools available to the physician to aid in the diagnosis of their pat
ients. Vascular ultrasound has progressed over the years to become muc
h more than a screening tool. Accurate diagnostic testing of the vascu
lar system requires a comprehensive understanding of anatomy and hemod
ynamics as well as the various pathological conditions that can presen
 t. Multiple variables such as cardiac output, abnormal liver enzymes,
cirrhosis, metastatic and renal disease can all have an impact on the
vascular system. \nThis one-day seminar provides an overview of abdom
inal vasculature and hemodynamics, and diagnostic criteria suitable fo
r anyone from an experienced sonographer to the beginner. Our scan lab
and state of the art equipment, along with our low student instructor
ratios allow you plenty of time to perfect your protocol, and acquire
the scanning experience necessary to perform diagnostic abdominal vas
cular exams.\n*This course can be taken individually as a two (2) day
course OR part of the Vascular Ultrasound seven (7) day course.\nObj
ectives At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
\n\nCorrectly identify vessel anatomy and orientation in an abdominal
vascular ultrasound examination to include renal, portal venous system
, and mesenteric vessels.\nIdentify the variations in instrumentation
and Doppler principles and the effects in scanning parameters.\nDescri
be the flow characteristics and the manifestations of disease processe
s.\nAnalyze the results of an abdominal vascular exam for pathological
conditions and in certain cases, quantify the diseases.\nIdentify add
itional resource information on abdominal vascular ultrasound.\n\nCour
se Topics\nThis one day seminar starts with an overview of abdominal v
ascular system and the hemodynamics of both color flow Doppler and pul
sed Doppler. You will learn to optimize your ultrasound system for eve
n the most difficult patient. After lunch you will be introduced to ou
r scan lab with state of the art equipment platforms and low student i
nstructor ratios where you will learn the specific controls for each o
f the platforms on the floor, basic scanning techniques, and patient p
ositioning.\nTarget Audience Physicians who desire entry level trainin
g with vascular ultrasound, and sonographers or other health care prof
essionals learning vascular ultrasound or cross training.\nCME Credit\
n\n“The Advanced Health Education Center is accredited by the Accred
itation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing
medical education for physicians.”\n“The Advanced Health Educatio
n Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8 hours
AMA PRA Category I™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate wi
th the extent of their participation in the activity.”\n“The Socie
ty of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers allows 8 hours CE Credit.”\n\n
