SUMMARY:19th Annual Spring Diagnostic Imaging Update
DESCRIPTION:Stanford Department of Radiology Presents\n\n19th Annual S
pring Diagnostic Imaging Update\n\nMarch 21-25, 2011\nGrand Hyatt Kaua
i\nHawaii\n\nStatement of Need\n\nThis course is designed to provide t
he tools for participants to enhance interpretation skills utilizing t
he latest imaging technologies, including CT, MR, PET/CT, SPECT, and u
ltrasound. Lectures will cover evidence-based practice techniques and
protocols for improved diagnostic accuracy in cardiac, neuro, thoracic
, abdominal and musculoskeletal applications. It will further review n
ew directions in early cancer detection, dose reduction strategies and
an assessment of medical imaging technology innovations.\n\nTarget Au
dience\n\nThis course is intended for practicing radiologists and radi
ologic nurses, physician assistants, technologists, scientists, reside
nts, fellows and others who are interested in current techniques and a
pplications for advanced diagnostic imaging.\n\nLearning Objectives\n\
n• Apply current indications, protocols and imaging techniques for c
ardiac evaluation, including strategies to reduce dosage without compr
omising image quality.\n• Evaluate current technical advances in car
diac imaging hardware and software, as well as the utilization of thes
e tools to gain rapid, detailed functional and anatomical information
for cardiac assessment.\n• Assess the current indications and utiliz
ation of advanced imaging technologies to improve cancer detection, st
aging, guiding interventions, and assessing response to therapy.\n•
Optimize protocols and processing parameters for assessing intracrania
l anatomy and function for potential neural disease cases such as stro
ke and dementia.\n• Assess the current indications, benefits, and do
wnsides associated with MR and MDCT imaging of the musculoskeletal sys
tem, and apply techniques to mitigate artifacts and pitfalls.\n• Eva
luate current and future technological innovations in imaging, includi
ng multimodality systems such as SPECT and MR-PET, and clinical advanc
es in dose reduction and radiation safety strategies.\n• Effectively
utilize ultrasound and other imaging modalities in the evaluation of
 gynecologic diseases and complications.\n\n\nAccreditation\n\nThe Stan
ford University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing
medical education for physicians.\nCredit Designation:\n\nStanford Un
iversity School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a
maximum of 20.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should o
nly claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation i
n the activity.\n\nTechnologists: Please check back for an update on A
RRT Category A CE credit approval.\n\nFor more information visit https
